Walter Rodney (1942–1980) was an intellectual, an activist, and a revolutionary who fought for a better future in many different contexts, but always for those who – due to colonialism, imperialism, and underdevelopment – had been oppressed for centuries. Rodney represented Pan Africanism, Black Power, and revolutionary thought at a time, when the existent order was challenged on a global scale. Through his scientific works and his activities as a »guerilla intellectual« Rodney challenged those in power and offered alternatives that especially poor and suppressed people could believe in. Rodney's relation to the Black Power movement as well as his thoughts about revolutions and their aims are central aspects of this book, which will not only highlight the historical importance of Rodney, but also show that his ideas are worth studying in the 21st century as they possess a lot of value to this today.
