A powerful writer, an effective plot-smith and a master of tempo
Through Leonie's eyes we follow the spats, friendships and the fears of the isolated jury, now an ad hoc community. . . a courtroom drama with a twist
L. J. Shepherd is one of the most exciting new voices in crime fiction
Now and again a writer with a real feel for language and a genuine grasp of what makes a good psychological plot comes along. Enter L. J. Shepherd
A twisty tale full of surprises and with a nail-biting finale. I didn't want it to end
Brilliantly compelling and claustrophobic, One of Your Number is a smart legal thriller that takes the reader into the hidden workings of the jury room. The plot is full of twists as the jurors' darkest secrets are exposed. Disturbingly real and highly entertaining
It's difficult not to get caught up in the drama and put yourself in the position of the jurors in this unique thriller. I particularly enjoyed the way Leonie's secret weaved through the plot providing unexpected turns, and after the success of the Cardiff-based Shepherd's debut novel, The Trials Of Lila Dalton, I'm looking forward to my next read by her'
Keeps you guessing from the first page to the last. L. J. Shepherd lays her clues with no less precision than she draws her characters - a fantastic read
I loved the creeping paranoia of One of Your Number. The locked-down courthouse setting is wonderfully eerie, and as the jurors begin to fracture under pressure, the tension feels almost uncomfortably real. Sharp, twisty and psychologically astute, it's a courtroom thriller that proves justice is rarely as straightforward as we'd like to believe
