Italy, 1978: A British Investigative Journalist joins forces with a former CIA agent to uncover a deadly international conspiracy.



Journalist Peter Kentish brings his family to the small medieval town of Colletta under the guise of a family holiday. Behind closed doors, he is conducting a series of private interviews with former CIA Agent, Robert Bravo. Bravo's insider revelations bring light to the CIA's collusion with the Italian mafia, all in the name of preventing communism from taking hold of Italy.



Meanwhile, Peter's eldest son, sixteen-year-old Sebastian, finds his own trouble with a spirited chambermaid named Rosetta. Caught between the adrenaline of first love and the sting of his mother's disapproval, Sebastian redirects his attention to a third - and more suspicious - figure.



As the tapes become more incriminating, watchful eyes begin to close in.



Bruno Noble went to Oundle School and on to Southampton University to study Philosophy and French literature. A circuitous route selling advertising space in financial magazines took him to the City where, amongst other things, he wrote markets and investment reports while impatient to write a novel. His first, 'A Thing of the Moment', was published by Unbound in 2018, and his second, 'The Colletta Cassettes', was published by Indie Novella in 2022 before being re-published by Inkspot Publishing in 2025.



Having enjoyed working collaboratively with other writers when he joined the Collier Street Fiction Group in 2021, with whom he met fortnightly for a number of years, Bruno started a part-time (two-year) Creative Writing M.A. at Birkbeck University in 2024.



A very entertaining blend of 20th century post-war history and family, coming-of-age story. I'd never heard of Operation Gladio before reading this - it was a pretty jaw-dropping revelation. But I enjoyed even more the tale of young love with which the international politics and intrigue are counterbalanced - it feels very real, heartfelt and charmingly innocent.



I loved it and devoured the book much too quickly.



An absorbing read, that perfectly combines the personal with the political, and which shines a stark light on post-war Italian history in a global context.
