Christmas above the Clouds
An Angel in a Red Triplane
On Christmas Eve, an elderly WWII fighter pilot is called to share with his family a mystical event, one he's never told—a story of miracles, faith, and divine intervention that changed his life, and that of his family, forever.
It's December 25, 1943. Flying a damaged F-5, the photo-reconnaissance version of the fabled P-38 Lightning, a young lieutenant finds himself hopelessly lost in thick clouds with no navigation instruments over Nazi-occupied Europe. Enemy fighters patrol below. His odds of survival slim. Then, through the impenetrable darkness, appears a sight that defies all logic: the blood-red triplane of Manfred von Richthofen, the legendary Red Baron who died during the Great War.
As the ghostly ace of aces leads the lieutenant and his wounded aircraft through the treacherous skies, he presents to his distressed wingman the Luther Rose—a symbol of faith that would alter the course of his life. Now, decades later, as dementia threatens his final memories, he must share this Christmas miracle with his family before it's too late. But not everyone is ready to believe, especially his granddaughter's cynical boyfriend who scorns all things spiritual. As a photograph taken by the camera of his F-5 emerges from the back of a decades-old shadow box, the family confronts questions of faith, skepticism, and the eternal truths that transcend generations. Christmas above the Clouds is a powerful testament to God’s grace in the most desperate circumstances—a reminder that Christmas miracles are real, and that the greatest gift ever given was wrapped not in paper, but in swaddling clothes two thousand years ago.
