Just Business
Christian Ethics for the Marketplace
What does it look like to do business with integrity? In Just Business, Alec Hill argues that the foundational Christian concepts of holiness, justice, and love are the keys to a truly Christian business ethic.
Written for students and professionals who want their faith to inform their business practices, this textbook provides a clear, practical, and theologically grounded framework for navigating the ethical challenges of modern business life.
Now in its fourth edition, Just Business has been updated with more current case studies and examples from global economies and a brand-new chapter on artificial intelligence, making it a timely and comprehensive Christian business ethics resource for today.
Just Business features:
- An accessible and practical Christian perspective on business that teaches readers to apply timeless moral principles in ethical decision-making
- Insightful case studies on pressing topics such as employer-employee relations, discrimination, international business, artificial intelligence, and environmental impact
- Real-world examples of business successes and failures from economies around the globe
- Evaluations of alternative secular approaches to business ethics including dual morality, agency, and law
Because God himself is holy, just, and loving, we should strive to embody those characteristics in the way we do business. Just Business is a valuable resource for both undergraduate and graduate students as well as working professionals who want a guide to business ethics rooted in Christian conviction rather than conventional corporate values. If you are a professor looking for a text that takes both faith and business seriously, or a student trying to figure out how your beliefs translate into your career, this book gives you a place to begin and a framework to build on.

Notes
Index
"Alec Hill has crafted an unusual volume. This book is solidly based on a biblical theological foundation ('how come?' questions are more important than 'how to?' questions); it is richly spiced with case studies and illustrations (there is both heat and light); and it offers a most welcome concordance of Scripture references. Hill places the business enterprise in the expansive context of vocation of calling, that liberating summons of God to live first for someone and then for something."
"I wish that all business leaders would struggle with the cases presented in this book, their principles and their rationale. It is an excellent tool for managers who struggle with how to apply Christian ethics in the marketplace. Just Business is full of challenge and hope--well-written, balanced and informative."
"Business practitioners are in sore need of an ethical framework which applies eternal principles to everyday marketplace decisions. Based on scriptural norms of holiness, justice and love, Just Business provides such a framework. I highly recommend it."
