Thousands of Eyes
In this wild, incantatory novel, bodies fuse with machines, trees sprout spark plugs like fruit, and a murderous cult that worships speed plots sinister rituals. In Santa Cruz, Bolivia, a teenage boy is haunted by the voices of car crash victims, including his older brother. As he seeks answers about his brother's death, he notices disturbing changes in his body - and fears he may unwittingly be at the centre of the sect's plans.Blending pulp, sci-fi and body horror into its own twisted form, Thousands of Eyes accelerates towards a vision of an apocalyptic future.

Strange and fascinating... Extravagant and intense. The cult of cars and speed raised to the status of religion, black metal, rituals, Ballard and Mad Max in Bolivia
I read Maximiliano Barrientos like a prophet. If he set up a cult I would give him all my possessions
Exhilarating... Barrientos's propulsive narrative owes its strength to vivid depictions of its characters' inner lives. It's a daring work from an essential Latin American author
Cars have never been so scary... Noirish and tense and stylish... Bizarre and propulsive
A disorienting tale of cosmic horror... At the heart of the novel is a story of grief
A terrifying apocalyptic thriller
A baroque wonder
This novel is pure vertigo
