Everything seems just perfect when singer Ines Behrendt and guitarist John Raymond travel to New York for the festive season: packed pubs and enthusiastic guests celebrating their version of the song Fairytale of New York. But appearances can be deceiving. Ines witnesses a suspicious handover of cash. Clearly, the friendly landlady Erin is in trouble. To help her, John resorts to dubious methods from his past. ‘Victoria Bertrams has a gift for drawing you straight into her stories in a very tangible way. A wonderfully light yet profound crime novel, whose images and sounds linger in your mind, heart and ears for a long time to come.’ Singer Esther Kaiser ‘Her fluid, dynamic style, which does without wordplay, finds its depth in John’s inscrutable character with a dark past.’ Kulturmagazin Dresdner
