From the outside, Allie's house is unremarkable, but inside, it's a jungle. Greenery crowds every room, lines every shelf, sprouts from every corner. Homeschooled, and without any friends her own age, every day is the same for Allie – just her and Mum and the plants. Until she meets a boy called Joe and stumbles across a rare sky-blue orchid. Suddenly Allie's small, quiet, green world opens up into something much wider, wilder and brighter, but can she embrace it all without leaving her mum behind?

Gráinne grew up in Wicklow, in a home where a book was always to hand. She trained in animation and worked for years in children's television, while also exploring her own ideas in writing and illustration. She is currently working on longer fiction for middle-grade readers, as well as writing short stories for children of all ages.

Gráinne now lives in Blackrock in County Dublin, within walking distance of the sea, one spooky graveyard, many old buildings, and three wonderful libraries.
