The Girl & The Ghost
She moved into a historic mansion. Something already lived there.
Publicity shy Morgan Parker didn't ask for a pink princess bedroom, a chandelier that crashes on its own, or a ghost who refuses to admit he's dead. But when a sharp-dressed Victorian boy materialises on her chaise longue on her very first night in the family's relocated 1800s mansion, Morgan's plan for a quiet, unremarkable life evaporates.
George Sebastian Wallace is insufferably proper, hopelessly confused, and utterly convinced this is still his house. He quotes Hamlet, lectures Morgan on the appropriate age for marriage, and falls through the floor at the worst possible moments. The problem? Morgan can't photograph him, can't make him leave, and — most inconveniently — can't quite stop noticing how unfairly handsome he is for someone who has been dead for over a century. As the two reluctant housemates circle each other across a gulf of a hundred and fifty years, something stranger begins to stir: a connection neither of them planned for, and a mystery about Bradenfield House that neither of them fully understands yet.
As Morgan gets to know George, she brings him up to speed with the modern world. The trouble is, the modern world can't see George, only Morgan can. Suddenly the rest of the world is fascinated with Morgan and her 'imaginary friend'. Now Morgan's the one creating scandal and family embarrassment, and she hasn't a clue how to stop it.
Ebony McKenna is the Australian author of the ONDINE series, about a teen who comes home from psychic summercamp with a pet ferret who talks with a Scottish accent. She also writes historical and mostly Regency-era romance as Ebony Oaten. These have a sweet tone but the main characters are adults.
