The Dieppe Secret
Spies, secrets and murder in the darkest days of WW2
London, 1942. An MI5 officer, Daniel Reese, is found dead, and rumours of a German mole swirl through Whitehall. Detective Inspector Andrew Hampton, reeling from a broken engagement, seizes the case to prove himself. The trail leads to Leena Lafontaine, an Estonian-Canadian translator and alleged mistress of the victim whose story almost fits. Was Reese silenced over Dieppe, murdered by a jealous lover, or by a thief with too much to lose? As Hampton pursues every lead, conflicting alibis and planted clues tangle the investigation. Meanwhile Allied convoys are already at sea. If a mole has leaked their destination, the offensive could end in catastrophe. With hours ticking away, Hampton must decide who to believe and who to betray before the first ships reach enemy guns.
