In this book, ProMosaik Children introduces a varied selection of Indian fairy tales to promote intercultural and interreligious dialogue with India. India is a mosaic country where many ethnicities and religious communities live together and interact one with another. Socio-politically speaking, India is a vast and deeply multicultural nation built on a "salad bowl" model, where distinct regional, linguistic, and religious groups coexist under a shared constitutional framework rather than melting into a single uniform identity.

Indian fairy tales and folklore blend moral wisdom, clever animal tricksters, magic, and deep spiritual traditions. These stories trace back thousands of years through ancient sources like for example the Jataka tales which are the Buddhist birth stories where religion and magic elements are interwoven and the Panchanatra which are animal fables, which heavily influenced world folklore.

ProMosaik Children was founded in February 2019 in Istanbul by the translator, author, and human rights activist Milena Rampoldi to promote the publication and translation of books for children to promote intercultural dialogue, respect, tolerance and empathy for the diversities in the world.

ProMosaik Children's core group includes authors, translators, human rights activists and their partners.
