Dressage Principles based on Biomechanics
The knowledge of the old masters - presented in an accessible way.
The secrets of classical riding. Analysed for the first time and accompanied by many practical examples, ancient knowledge is presented here in a modern way. Almost forgotten, yet essential riding methods, such as the Bügeltritt (the position of the rider's foot in the stirrup) or ridden work with a cavesson are described in detail.
Alongside his own success in top level competitions, Dr. Thomas Ritter has already trained numerous riders and horses up to classical dressage. His teachers included Dorothee Baumann-Pellny, Thomas Faltejsek and Egon von Neindorff.
* The aims of dressage training
* The system's essential gymnastic building blocks
* Breaking down blockades
* Essential rider skills: Sitting, feeling, thinking
* The network of aids
This is a gorgeous book and obviously a labour of love. It is beautifully laid out with easy to read font.
Dr Ritter has generously offered up the sum total of a Classical Riding Master's knowledge. The writing style is clear and direct. Content is logically organized and there are many diagrams and photos. The information is detailed yet easy to read. It is probably the most accessible and complete book on technical skills for the rider AND how and why to use gymnastic exercises / dressage movements that I have read. My library contains great books by Albrecht, Steinbrecht, Decarpentry, Podhajsky, Seunig, Blignault, Savoie, Phillipe Karl, Egon von Neindorff. If I was limited to just one book, I would choose Dr Ritter's book above them all.
Every student of equitation who picks up this book will learn from it.
