Trust Instead of Dominance
Working towards a new form of ethical horsemanship
Does the rider really always have to be "dominant" over the horse? Do we need dominance training? In this book, behavioural biologist Marlitt Wendt debunks the widely-held and incorrect belief in the dominance theory and presents the scientifically well-founded friendship concept as a horse-friendly alternative.
Marlitt Wendt is a behavioural biologist specialising in horses. She champions harmonious cooperation between horse and handler and pro-horse behaviour. Wendt also organises presentations and seminars on alternative training methods and on creative intelligence training for horses.

* Hierarchy versus network relationships - social structures among horses
* Dominance training from a behavioural biology point of view
* When the equine psyche is misunderstood
Having read a lot and written on this subject it didn't blow my socks off, but it's well organised with a very readable style. I would still recommend this to those new to reading this subject. It's very straight forward in it's presentation of the subject and is a welcome addition to writing on a very important subject.
