Cyril Hare (1900-1958) was the pseudonym for the lawyer Alfred Alexander Gordon Clark. As a barrister, he handled many of the great crime cases of the 1920s which inspired his hugely popular whodunnits and crime novels, praised by Elizabeth Bowen and P.D. James among others.
