The Prince

The Prince is a 16th-century political treatise written by Italian diplomat and political theorist Niccolò Machiavelli as an instruction guide for new princes and royals. The general theme of The Prince is of accepting that the aims of princes - such as glory and survival - can justify the use of immoral means to achieve those ends.



Niccolò Machiavelli (Firenze, 1469–1527) è stato un influente scrittore, diplomatico e filosofo politico, considerato il fondatore della moderna scienza politica. Segretario della Repubblica fiorentina (1498-1512), dopo l'esilio scrisse Il Principe (1513), trattato sul realismo politico e la gestione del potere, e Discorsi sopra la prima deca di Tito Livio.
